Phase
I: System Analysis
This
customer is changing the layout of their office. We will
be moving the Vodavi telephone system and Voice Mail to
a new communications room about 15 feet behind this
wall. We will also be re-routing all the voice cable.
The
customer's data equipment is located across the hall. It
will also be
 moved into the new room.
All of the
data cable will have to be re-routed to the new location
and will be terminated on two new 48-port patch panels.
Phase
II: Pulling the cables....
 Phase
II has started! As you can see the phone system is in
the middle of the construction. We will be moving the
system to the new phone/data room in about two weeks.
Shown below
is the voice side of the new phone/data room. During the
next couple of weeks we will be running the voice cable
to the 66-blocks on the right side of the picture.
When we move the voice equipment, the phone system will
be mounted in the open area above the 66-blocks. The
voice mail and battery back-up will be located below to
the left.
We
have already started pulling the voice and data cable
for the new section (the construction area where the
phone system is currently).
When finished, the cable will route through the conduit
(upper right) and down the cable raceway shown below.

is the new data rack on the other side of the
phone/data room. Similar to the voice cable, the data
cable will also route through the conduit and down the
raceway.

IV: Moving the Phone & Data equipment
Moving day was a huge success!!
We took the telephone system off-line at 5:00 pm on
Friday night. The system was back up and running by
7:00 pm. We spent a good part of the day on Saturday
testing the telephone and data network.

With The Old…In With The New
|
This is an
old AT&T Merlin telephone system. The customer outgrew
the capacity of this system and also wanted voice mail
with auto attendant. |
The first task was to
remove the old system and clean up
the mess of cable |

Here we have the completed install with the

mail in the blue box.
